Biographical / Historical
Laszlo Zechmeister, 1890-1972. Recruited as Organic Chemistry professor, his career at Caltech spanned from 1940-1959, following emeritus status until his death in 1972. Zechmeister's research involved many areas of chemistry, and included studies of polysaccharides, natural pigments, stereo chemical phenomena, and methods of chromatography and spectroscopy.
