THEODORE von KARMAN: 1881-1963. Aerodynamicist, physicist, mathematician; Professor of Aeronautics and Director of GALCIT, CIT 1930-1949. Founded JPL as a center for rocket research & development; became its first director. The collection contains personal & scientific correspondence, scientific manuscripts, unpublished speeches, lecture notes, family papers, medals , and photographs. Published guide available (covers boxes 1-175 only). 1994 Supplement includes photos, framed degrees and citations, medals, and one folder of correspondence, Karman-Tsien.
