Description: Combs joined the Institute development staff in 1964 as associate director of corporate relations, later becoming director of alumni relations. He also was a member of the board of trustees of the Alumni Association and held several other offices in the association, including that of president in 1940. In 1968 he was named secretary to the Caltech board of trustees.
