Biographical/Historical

Background: Caltech Professor of Biology, 1938-1968; Instructor, 1929-1938; Caltech alumnus (PhD, 1929).
Biographical/Historical Description: A specialist in embryology, Tyler was one of the first scientists to apply modern physiological and biochemical methods to the study of development. He was also well know for his research on fertilization, and he was the last graduate student to complete his work under the supervision of Thomas Hunt Morgan.
Biographical/Historical Collection Notes: Papers, 1930-1968. Tyler's papers cover his research and teaching. Also included are files on professional organizations and a number of reprints.
