This 198 page oral history covers Murray's youth and family life, the origins of JPL and his role as director, the Mariner series and Mars exploration, Venus missions, the Deep Space network, the relationship between Caltech and JPL and the history of Caltech astronomy.
A final session of the oral history dated April 3, 1984 is currently closed to researchers except by permission of Bruce Murray.
