This 52-page oral history was done in two sessions and covers Horowitz's family background, postdoctoral work, involvement in the space program, administration of the Biology Division in the 1970s, personalities and trends at Caltech, and career achievements and honors.

Papers, 1942-1992. Correspondence; manuscripts; lab notebooks documenting Neurospora and Drosophila research; Space Sciences Steering Committee (NASA) subcommittee summary minutes, 1960-64, along with other papers documenting his involvement in the Mars program.

Abstract

The working papers, correspondence, manuscripts, and lectures of Norman Harold Horowitz form the collection known as the Papers of Norman Horowitz in the Archives of the California Institute of Technology. Horowitz was professor of biology at Caltech, and a pioneer in the fields of exobiology and biochemical genetics.
