Description: Elliot's research interests ranged widely. He studied the liberal party in Scotland, London's 1660 Restoration period, and arms control and national defense. He served as a consultant to the Ford Foundation, the RAND Corporation, NASA, and the Foreign Area Fellowship program. He served as chairman of Caltech's 75th anniversary celebrations as well as a number of other administrative posts.

Collection Notes: Oral history, 1986.This 128 page oral history is the result of five interviews with Elliot. It covers many aspects of his work and life including Caltech in the 1950s, the Humanities Division from the 1950s into the 1980s, Harold Brown's presidency, public affairs courses at Caltech in the 1950s, foreign affairs seminar in the 1960s, the California Seminar and Caltech's 75th anniversary.
